From The Cat’s Suitcase

The Cat went on a business trip, stuff that ended up coming back in her suitcase.

Dried Mushroom

Instructions in Italian, what The Mouse could deduce and experience with other dried mushrooms, the Mouse steeped in hot water for about 20 minutes.

The Cat still has jet lag, time difference was eleven hours ahead.

The Mouse made rice porridge.

Jet Lag Bowl

Rice, Napa cabbage, mushrooms, wakame, leftover mushroom omelet, purple sweet potato. salt to taste.

Be safe, eat good.

The Mouse just using up some mushrooms in the refridg.

Cleaned out two cans from the pantry too.

Sauteed/quick braised in water and whiskey, olive oil, salt, and shoyu to finish.

For The Cat’s bento this week.

Boneless Pork Chops

Cooks faster and easier than pork belly. Cheaper too.

Chunked

The Cat helped to cut the chops up. Even easier to handle.

Browned, simmered in mushroom gravy, mushrooms, apple cider vinegar, sake, salt and pepper to taste.

Not as tender, nor “fatty” as pork belly, but works. 🙂

Mushroom Soup

The base/broth.

Pork Foot

Par boil, wash, fresh water, ginger, vinegar, Chinese dates, simmer for hours.

Remove foot (for The Cat’s bento), add canned mushrooms to desired quantity, simmer for addtional 45 minutes.

The Mouse was wondering if the soup would gel, the mushroom might dilute the soup too much. While not fully gell, soup did slight thicken and solidify.

Pork Hock

Canned Mushroom

Regular button stems and pieces, and broken straw.

Package of mushroom gravy, throw everything in and hope for the best.

Pork Hock Stew with Mushroom

Add steamed rice and vegetables. Bento ready! Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
