For The Cat’s bento this week.

Boneless Pork Chops

Cooks faster and easier than pork belly. Cheaper too.

Chunked

The Cat helped to cut the chops up. Even easier to handle.

Browned, simmered in mushroom gravy, mushrooms, apple cider vinegar, sake, salt and pepper to taste.

Pork Chops and Mushroom Gravy

Not as tender, nor “fatty” as pork belly, but works. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Mushroom Soup

The base/broth.

Pork Foot

Par boil, wash, fresh water, ginger, vinegar, Chinese dates, simmer for hours.

Remove foot (for The Cat’s bento), add canned mushrooms to desired quantity, simmer for addtional 45 minutes.

Mushroom Soup

The Mouse was wondering if the soup would gel, the mushroom might dilute the soup too much. While not fully gell, soup did slight thicken and solidify.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Pot Luck

The Mouse’s contribution took a little detour. Instead of the packaged mushroom gravy, The Mouse used a can of coconut milk.

Stout Braised Mushroom “Gravy” with Coconut Milk

The stout was a little too strong for the mushrooms, next time a lighter beer, or wine.

The Mouse’s Plate

Just a portion of the potluck spread.

High point of the potluck.

Squid Luau

Nom!

Plus, co-worker gave The Mouse a bottle of bacon fat for future.

Bacon Fat

🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
