Bistro Eats

Place

Restaurant is one town over from where The Cat and The Mouse live. Always thought restaurant was just a bit far.

But, the neighborhood Italian “caffe” changed owners, and the bistro over in the next town became more attractive.

Garlic Toast

Roasted garlic, toast, diner interactive.

Tri-Color Tomato Salad

Lobster Ravioli

The Cat made three meals from the dish. Very rich.

Lemon Sorbet, Tiramisu

The Cat nibbled on the tiramisu and had the rest for breakfast the next morning.

The Mouse ordered chicken cacciatore for his dinner and somehow deleted the pic. Dish was good.

Maybe the new go-to spot for Italian cuisine.

Be safe and well.

The Cat came home early. Plan was neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Take-out only. Second choice, Italian a couple of doors down. The Mouse was having a tiny bit digestion issue, didn’t want to exacerbate with any dairy ingredient. Ordered safe.

Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce

The Cat ordered the daily special, breaded deep-fried braised pork belly, duck confit beans, andouille sausage, kale, pickled red cabbage.

Daily Special

Wait, wait, the pork belly is a version of pork tonkatsu. Hee hee. The Mouse was momentarily confused. Italian or Japanese or fusion. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

First time for The Mouse (second time for The Cat). The Mouse watched the commercials for years, branch recently opened accessible to The Mouse and The Cat. The Mouse had to try the famous unlimited soup and salad.

Breadsticks and salad. The Mouse loves the bread, soft with just enough chew texture. Mmm. Salad was good too, house salad.

Minestrone soup. Four choices of soup, but two had dairy. The Mouse passed on the two soups with dairy, although he had lactase enzyme pills, he has to pick his battles. Hee hee.

The Mouse tried the other soup, beans with ground meat. dunno the name of the soup. Not bad. Overall, The Mouse preferred the minestrone.

The Cat’s “gotta try” dish at Italian themed restaurants is eggplant parmesan.

The Cat’s order came with a side of spaghetti. The Cat is funny, she likes eggplant parmesan but most times, there is too much cheese on the top. The Mouse thought that was the whole point? Oh well, The Cat still enjoyed it.

Dessert recommended by the server:

Tiramisu. The Mouse liked (took many lactase pills just before, picking battles). The Cat wanted a little more coffee flavor but still thought dessert was good.

Stay safe and well.

The Cat and The Mouse a little cabin fever, ventured to the neighborhood Italian cafe (new-ish owner, new-ish chef, new-ish menu).

The Cat tried one new chef’s additions.

Porchetta

Roasted red potatoes, sauteed kale.

The porchetta was a chunk of pork belly (The Mouse not complaining 🙂 ). Only other time The Cat tried porchetta, it was in a sandwich and the meat was chopped with the crispy skin. Three decent meals out of the dish.

The Mouse went with a tried and true standard.

Pasta Primavera

Zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, spinach, bell pepper, basil pesto on penne. Mmm, nom. Two decent servings out of this dish. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Italian Bento?

The Cat’s dinner. Supporting local.

Primavera Bento

Vegetable pasta, green salad, bread. All neatly packed in one container.

Neighborhood Italian cafe trying to make it easier for their customers to do take out. Instead of having to order ala carte. Good idea. The Cat liked.

Stay safe and well.
