Weekend food haul. Chef made rabbit dish. The Mouse drove to his restaurant kitchen to pick up.

Rabbit

Rabbit legs (2) in gravy. The meat was really lean, the gravy was mmm.

Since The Mouse was in the area, The Mouse went “hunting” Hee hee.

Spanish Rolls

Nanding Bakery. Mmm!

Bento

Sekiya Restaurant and Deli. Rice, shoyu chicken, luncheon meat (not SPAM), green beans. Set menu item. Decently priced compared with if The Mouse were to order ala carte. 🙂

Bonus, The Mouse bought a tin of liver spread from the bakery. The Mouse has been searching for a while since the grocery store that normally stocked the item no longer carried. Sigh.

The Mouse thought about ordering online but unsure of brand and quality.

Flower Pate

The right tin is what The Mouse is used to, the left is the “new” brand. The Mouse found a new source. 🙂 Will be digging in soon. 🙂

Be safe, eat good.

Sunday Brunch

First Sunday of each month. The Cat’s plates.

Beginnings.

Yogurt, Walnut Raisin Toast, English Jam

This was The Mouse’s plate, Chef made non-dairy, yogurt is coconut yogurt. No gurgling stomach. 🙂

The Cat’s version was regular yogurt, and the toast had Devonshire cream added.

Appetizer.

Steamed Clams

Cream sauce. The Cat was full after the appetizer. Hee hee.

Catch of the Day

Mahi mahi. Salted lemon caper sauce, wilted greens, asparagus, saffron rice.

The Cat’s dessert was a dark chocolate mousse with strawberries, parfait style. Chef gave us a mason jar filled with mousse, cream, and strawberries. The Cat had two breakfasts. 🙂

Forgot to take a picture.

Be safe and well.

Probably one of the last leisure outing opportunities before The Cat goes into tax mode. First, a visit to a health food store to look for papayas. The papaya selection has not been too good in SPAM Land recently. The fruit tends to start rotting from the stem side before fully ripening. Trying the health food store to see if better.

The Mouse picked up a clearance “wheat less” muffin to try try.

Wheat Less Muffin Half

Uhm, no. Very dry, sandy-like texture. Good thing it was reduced price.

Next was lunch at nearby chop suey restaurant. More pics tomorrow. A preview for now.

Making Dumplings

Gau gee. Mmm. The Mouse loves watching/learning how food is made.

The Mouse prefers boiled but guessing most of the dumplings will be deep-fried.

Stay safe and well.

Dinner at The Cat and The Mouse’s favorite place, friend’s birthday.

First:

Abalone Soup

Split pea. Inventive chef.

Second:

Iced Seafood

Lobster, sashimi, poke, etc. oh my! Nom!

Third:

Salad

The Cat and guest had Caesar, Chef changed up The Mouse’s dressing to a red wine blend because of The Mouse’s dairy issue. The Mouse did get anchovies. 🙂

Fourth:

Portabello Mushroom Crusted Salmon

Balsamic vinegar glaze, tomato coulis, fiddle head fern, oven roasted tomato. The salmon soft like buttah. Mmm.

Intermezzo:

Meyer’s Lemon Sorbet

Fifth:

Snake River Farm Kurobuta Pork

Truffle madeira sauce, haricot vert beans, mushrooms. One of the best pork dishes outside of pork belly The Mouse experienced. Mmm!

Sixth:

Fresh Strawberry Jello with Fresh Mint and Gelato

The chef explained to us his fruit extraction machine that steams the fruit and extracts pure juice. He hauled it from Germany a long time ago. The Mouse wonder if the machine could work on mango. Hee hee.

Chef usually makes epic chef’s choice meals but this one was Tolkien epic. Thank Chef H!

Stay safe and well.

The famous Mr. Lee burger:

Mr. Lee Burger

The Mouse posted about this burger before, still a favorite.

Deluxe, grilled onions (really nice touch), lettuce, tomato. Enhanced with probably the last of the shiso this season.

The almost famous Chef H lockdown special burger:

Chef H Burger

With accouterments.

Accouterments

The Mouse posted about this before too.

Local beef, applewood smoke bacon, cheddar cheese, caramelized sweet onions, lettuce, tomato, steak fries.

Minus the fries, The Mouse thinks a least four Mr. Lee burgers for the cost of one Chef H burger. Fair comparison, The Mouse thinks not. Both are great in their category and The Mouse enjoys both. Mr. Lee’s just a little more often. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.
