Archive for the ‘Canned’ Category

Yea or nay? The Mouse doesn’t mind them, not as a regular staple, but occasionally.

Small-kid time, cheaper than fresh or frozen, The Mouse didn’t like them then.

Now, taste has changed, The Mouse doesn’t mind.

Rice Bowl with Canned Peas

Leftover mapo tofu. If The Mouse is doing stir-fry, frozen peas definitely, but leftover rice bowls, canned peas are okay. 🙂

The Mouse eats. 🙂

Rice and Sardines

The Mouse usually buys sardines in rectangular tins, tried the round cans before but wasn’t a fan, packed in tomato sauce, not oil. With prices increasing, The Mouse thought to try again. The Mouse adapted, not as bad as he thought. Added capers and pickled turnip to enhance the experience. 🙂

The Mouse can eat sardines and save a bit of coin. Not changing to full round cans but a good alternative. Hee hee.

Be safe, eat good.

Lucky Beans?

The Mouse not superstitious but … can’t hurt. Hee hee.

Sugar and shoyu taste, ingredients also included seaweed, salty/sweet.

Wishing all smoother roads, clearer skies, and calmer waters.

Weekend food haul. Chef made rabbit dish. The Mouse drove to his restaurant kitchen to pick up.

Rabbit legs (2) in gravy. The meat was really lean, the gravy was mmm.

Since The Mouse was in the area, The Mouse went “hunting” Hee hee.

Spanish Rolls

Nanding Bakery. Mmm!

Sekiya Restaurant and Deli. Rice, shoyu chicken, luncheon meat (not SPAM), green beans. Set menu item. Decently priced compared with if The Mouse were to order ala carte. 🙂

Bonus, The Mouse bought a tin of liver spread from the bakery. The Mouse has been searching for a while since the grocery store that normally stocked the item no longer carried. Sigh.

The Mouse thought about ordering online but unsure of brand and quality.

Flower Pate

The right tin is what The Mouse is used to, the left is the “new” brand. The Mouse found a new source. 🙂 Will be digging in soon. 🙂

Be safe, eat good.

Anchovy Rice

The Mouse opened the jar. The Cat brought home a couple of weeks ago. The Mouse thought better try while “fresh”.

The Mouse steamed rice, added wakame, frozen vegetables, topped with anchovies and pickled turnip.

Kinda like mixed rice. The Mouse was happy. Mouthwash and brush teeth after, fishy breath. Hee hee.

Be safe, eat good.
