The Mouse still working through Chef H’s gift basket of vegetables and pineapple (the pineapple is yet to be tackled). Yesterday, tiny tomatoes.

Cute Yeah?

After rinsing, The Mouse sprinkled olive oil, salt, pepper, dried oregano, and garlic flakes on the tomatoes and into the toaster oven.

After they were toasted, but not saucy, The Mouse tossed the tomatoes with angel hair pasta and a tin of tuna (packed in oil).

The Mouse’s Lunch

Too bad there were no capers nor black olive in the pantry, but other than that, The Mouse was pleased with his no-recipe try. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Kipper Snack

A try try for The Mouse, he may have tried it before but he can’t remember.

The Mouse wanted to try as an alternative to tinned sardines. The Mouse really likes canned sardines but sometimes variety is good. Hee hee.

The Mouse cooked some pasta to go with the kipper snacks. Taste was smoky (duh), chewier than sardines. The Mouse thinks a cross between sardines and anchovies.

Overall, The Mouse likes sardines and anchovies better than the kipper snacks, not a dislike, more like a preference. A good try try.

Stay safe and well.

Not Florentine style (no butter nor Mornay sauce). The Mouse was not feeling carbs, his dinner.

Fish and Spinach

Frozen spinach (boiled, drained, chilled), canned sardines (in oil), canned pink salmon, both fishes boneless/skinless. Usually The Mouse likes the bones and skin but this time he didn’t mind.

That’s all for now.

Stay safe and well.

Old school. One of my father’s favorites, except he didn’t have the patience to cook the onions down, his was crispy.

The Mouse started with a red onion, ’cause it looked pretty.

Red Onion

Thinly sliced, low and slow in the pan with olive oil, turn heat to medium and add tin of sardines (with oil), smash and heat to incorporate. Salt and pepper to taste.

Sardines and Onions

Over steamed rice. Mmm. The Mouse supposes it would be good over pasta too, maybe even ramen. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

The Mouse’s bowl, it had the “spirit” of a loco moco, just different. 🙂

Brown rice (instead of white), steamed egg (instead of fried), anchovies with oil (instead of hamburger patty with gravy). Mmm!

The Mouse acknowledges this might be an acquired taste (especially the anchovies), but The Mouse really liked.

And the steamed egg (three minutes) created a better “gravy” than a fried egg (squishier). Less clean-up too. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.
