Christmas Brunch

The Cat hosted a small-ish group, those that didn’t have plans for Christmas.

Lobby

Roses and orchids. Interesting combo.

The Mouse ate.

Greens

With shrimp cocktail, largest shrimp for shrimp cocktail The Mouse has seen. Kale salad, beet salad, Brussels sprouts, DIY Caesar salad? with whole anchovies. Nom!

Meat

Prime rib and leg of lamb. The Mouse didn’t see the horseradish and used chimichurri on both. No matter, very good. Like Chinese ginger onion sauce (The Mouse’s favorite condiment). 🙂

Summary Plate

More beets, more Brussels sprouts, a bit of ahi and tako poke, slices of cold cuts. More nom.

Dessert

Signature coconut cake, mint chocolate yule log, pistachio something tart, chocolate dipped fruit, and house made mac nut chocolate balls (which were killer), The Mouse went back for a few more of the balls.

Hope you all (or those the celebrate) had a nice Christmas.

Enjoy. Eat well.

“Cafeteria” in a department store. Old school throwback. Sunday’s schedule a bit wacky. Decided to save time and eat at the “cafeteria”. It has been here at least twenty years.

The Gazebo.

Seating

Clear “winter” weather.

The Cat seems to like soup and sandwich combos during the winter time.

Tomato Bisque

More like a hybrid, cream of tomato soup with vegetable soup. The Cat didn’t mind.

Tuna Salad on Croissant

Nothing fancy. Old school style.

For The Mouse, it was a toss up between stuffed cabbage or hamburger steak, cashier’s personal preference was the hamburger steak. Follow the recommendation.

Hamburger Steak, Brown Rice, Beans, Gravy, and Onions

Cooked well-done. The Mouse usually orders medium rare, but in this case, The Mouse wasn’t asked. No matter, the char on the burgers and tender texture made up for the doneness.

Next time The Mouse is in the mood of old school eating, be back.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Sunday brunch, before The Cat went into her office.

The Cat’s

Her usual. Norwegian salmon breakfast.

The Mouse’s

French toast, unusual for The Mouse to order a sweet breakfast, he was in the mood. 🙂

The Cat worked past dinner, The Mouse picked up a sandwich.

Ham and Pate Bahn Mi

This used to be The Mouse’s favorite, now the sandwich has to share popularity with the newly envisioned hummus, bacon, mushroom, spinach on sourdough and its variations. 🙂
