The Cat and The Mouse don’t mind leftovers. Yesterday eats.

Shoyu Pork, Toasting Bread Ends

The Mouse likes the bread ends the bakery cuts off and sells separately (cheap eats). Never know what’s in the package, could be whole wheat, white, etc. In the last purchase, it was toasting bread ends. Different from plain white bread, texture is finer. The Mouse wished he had French baguettes on hand, but the toasting bread was close enough.

The Mouse added dried green vegetable and cauliflower in the reheat. The shoyu pork sauce was good for dipping

Leftover oxtail soup. The Mouse added wakame, canned bamboo shoot, frozen mixed vegetables, instant ramen, and white stemmed cabbage in the reheat. 🙂

After doctor appointment. “Japanese” bakery, conveniently next to grocery store.

Bakery will slice various thicknesses based on customer request. The Mouse requested 2mm (first time experience for The Mouse), a little thick, that’s okay, good toasting width. Next time, The Mouse thinks 1.5mm for general use.

Onion Pastry

A little spicy. Would have been great with a side burger patty. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Buying Bread

The Cat and The Mouse did a little shopping yesterday. Day off for The Cat. The Cat uses a couple of charge cards that offer rewards for using. She had dollars at Macy’s that expire in a couple of days. Since she didn’t need anything at the moment, so The Mouse got two pairs of slippers. Yay!

Since we were at the mall, The Mouse checked to see if the Japanese bakery had bread ends. The bakery sells the end pieces of sliced bread separately from its regular sliced loaves for cheap. The Mouse guesses most customers don’t like the ends?

The Cat thought one of their pastries was cute.

Flat Bread with Vegetables

The bag of bread ends is in the background. The Mouse imagines it takes a good amount of loaves to fill accumulate enough bread ends to fill one bag. The availability is hit or miss. The Mouse was lucky yesterday. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Sunday Pics

Just some Sunday pics.

Bag of Bread Ends

For some odd reason the bakery at the mall cuts the ends off of their sliced bread. The Mouse buys the ends. Not good for sandwich but great for toast. Super cheap too! 🙂

Practice Practice Practice

Radishes and zucchini. The Mouse practicing slicing skills, not good by any means, but maybe a form of meditation? Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Savory Pancake

Tsong yo bing? Northern Chinese flatbread thingies? The Cat got hooked up with a cottage industry (read homemade) maker.

The Cat ordered a package (7 for 10 dollars). Green onion pancakes.

The instructions were a bit sketchy. The Mouse started a non-stick pan on medium heat, added oil, and fried one side for about two minutes, flipped it, turned down the heat to low, and let it pan toast for about 8 minutes.

Tsong Yo Bing

The Cat approved. The Mouse guesses this will be The Cat’s dinner starch for the rest of the week. Eat’em while still fresh.

Stay safe and well.
