The Mouse’s Meat-Fest

The Cat rushed off to work. The Mouse had to do farmers market solo. A pass on Ruby Tuesday this week.

Picked up take-out from the grocery store instead.

Grilled Beef Short Ribs

And The Mouse couldn’t pass up.

Grilled Lamb

Leftover roll from the freezer (ten minutes in the toaster oven).

Rustic Roll

Just butter. No artisanal fruit preserve nor Vegemite. It was all about the meat. Perfectly cooked. The connective tissue easily separated from the rib bones. Big nom!

The Mouse had to take a nap afterward. Zzz. Hee hee.

Whoever is cooking at the grocery store really know their meats. Their Chinese style roast pork is really good too.

And as a bonus, the prices are super reasonable. 🙂

Happy Mouse.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Remember this jar?

Strawberry and Brandy Preserve

Finally opened.

Strawberry and Brandy Preserve

Consistency more liquid-y than “jammy”, no matter.

Toasted the “rustic” bun.

Split (like an English muffin).

Slathered butter, back in the toaster to melt, one side just butter, the other side butter and the strawberry preserve.

Toast with Butter and Strawberry (and Brandy) Preserve

Nom! Not too much brandy taste, guess the alcohol was cooked out, that’s okay, doc says alcohol and The Mouse’s meds don’t mix anyways. Still tasty. Will try and purchase from the vendor as often as the pocketbook permits (gotta support local small business).

Enjoy. Eat well.

A trip to The Mouse’s favorite bakery/breadshop. JJ2.

Square Bread

Got to the bakery a little late. Only a few packages left. The Mouse only needs one. 🙂

Pastry with Dried Pork Shavings

Saved for later. Maybe toaster oven on the weekend with a nice cup of tea. Hee hee.

The Mouse needed a little green for The Cat’s bento.

White Stem Cabbage

Cleaned, boiled, olive oil and salt.

Assembling The Cat’s bento.

Okinawan Sweet Potato and Chickpeas

Test Test

And a little bit of a tease.

Seared Ahi Sample

Cajun spiced, tropical fruit aioli. Not bad.

Sandwich Rolls from Texas

Whole wheat and sweetened milk.

Cold Cut on Wheat Roll with Mustard

The Mouse’s opinion is that the bread is slightly underdone. Popped the bread into the toaster oven for five to ten minutes. Good to go.

Bread is not bad, not sure I would send all the way from Texas for though, but, if in the area …

Enjoy. Eat well.
