Avocado

Our neighbor helped his friend harvest his avocado tree. His tree was being attacked by something, bugs or virus, and the friend didn’t want the avocados go to waste. The tree was cleared of fruit. Our neighbor got more fruit than he could handle. A lucky dilemma. Neighbor shared.

Avocado

Neighbor said they looked ugly but are good eating. He was right.

The Cat has a love/hate relationship with “avocado toast”. In her mind, avocado toast is her first experience at an Italian restaurant in Waikiki. Any other avocado toast that doesn’t recreate the dish “fails”.

The Mouse took a different route. French “baguette” roll, split and toasted, avocado, slightly smashed to fit the roll, no other spread, the avocado has enough “fat”. A sprinkle of Kaua’i sea salt, very little black pepper, and a quarter pinch of Szechuan pepper. Hope and pray for the best.

Avocado “Baguette”

The Cat approved. The roll was sturdy enough to contain the avocado, seasoning was on point. Thumbs up. \ooo/

Be safe and well.

Fruit Plate

The mango was a surprise, although The Cat said the mango was ripe but could be sweeter.

Avocado Toast

Pesca Loco Moco

An ahi patty, rice, seafood gravy. The Mouse normally prefers traditional loco moco ingredients (hamburger patty, brown gravy). but this order was a winner. Given the opportunity, an order again item. 🙂

Be safe and well.

The Mouse ran an errand near a Dunkin’ (Donut), avocado toast advertised. The Mouse intrigued.

Too bad The Mouse doesn’t have a company concept picture. But this what The Mouse received.

Avocado Toast with Bacon

Hmm, kinda looks like after opening an Ikea box. Hee hee. Now in Dunkin’ defense, because the order was take-out, The Mouse did as for the ingredients to be separate to prevent sogginess. Just didn’t expect the avocado be pre-packed. Ingredient list was avocado, lemon juice, salt, pepper. No preservatives other than the lemon juice. Good.

The Mouse assembled.

Dunkin’ Avocado Toast with Bacon

Over all, given the price (much lower than restaurants), turned out better than first impression. The sesame seeds in the advertising was missing though. The Mouse was pleasantly surprised. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Sunday breakfast. Breakfast place near the warehouse.

The Mouse’s Plate

Rice, two eggs, avocado, and salad. The Mouse didn’t want to go too much on the meats. Prepping for Tuesday.

The Cat’s Benedict

French bread instead of English muffin, bacon, avocado, and salsa.

Slightly pricey. Try try.

It’s fat free chicken broth, coffee, cola, orange jell-o, and water for The Mouse today. Only one day.

Stay safe and well.

The Mouse finally got to try Egghead Cafe. Used to be located where parking was an issue. Moved near the warehouse. Made a Costco run yesterday (the warehouse is currently located really close to Costco). The Mouse picked up late “brunch” after.

Avocado Toast

Avo corn toast: avocado corn spread, basil aioli, paprika, added soft scrambled egg.

Dish was good, The Mouse would have preferred a more aggressive seasoning, maybe some chili flake? The corn did not excite The Mouse.

Porky Bowl

Rice, braised pork belly, fried egg (crispy), and pickled vegetables. The Mouse liked this one. A little dash of ponzu at home, and yum.

A good try try.

Stay safe and well.
