The Mouse tries tamale for the first time.

Tamale Plate

Nom! The Mouse likes wrapped food, lau lau, pastele, jung, etc. Tamale fits right in. Yay!

At the same time, The Cat tries horchata for the first time.

Kinda like Mexican soy milk? Without the bean taste, The Cat likes.

Now for the rest of the week.

Smoked Pork Cheek

One of the butchers at the warehouse caught a wild boar, a very invasive species here in SPAM Land. In his spare time he smokes meat. The Mouse was lucky to taste the cheek portion, very yum.

The Mouse finally picked up pork bones, order was last week but the warehouse couldn’t find the package, ugh. Head butcher reordered and repackaged. There was supposed to be tails in the mix. Very little tail portions, mostly ribs and backs. Lotsa soup coming. The Mouse will try and salvage tail portions for a cooking experiment.

9 Pounds of Bones

Finally, The Cat picked up a package of mini naan from Costco.

Mini Naan

The Mouse used whatever available and made a ham, apple and shiso mini naan “soft taco” sandwich.

The Mouse’s Dinner

The Mouse forgot a little smidge of mustard, next time.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Mostly cleaning out the refridge and pantry, some samples from the warehouse.

The Mouse’s Mess

Side view.

The Layered Look

From the bottom up, leftover Kalua pork, cabbage, natto, canned spinach, dried radish kimchi, won bok kimchi, cucumber kimchi. The dried turnip kimchi was really good, if there is more in the refridge today, The Mouse is going after it. Nom!

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Cat and The Mouse stayed in after farmers market. Lines to restaurants too long, Father’s day.

Pale Cucumbers?

“Normal” on the right, dunno what on the left. Never saw these before, did not buy.

Scone and li hing apples.

Dinner, The Cat had her bowl of roast duck soba noodles, The Mouse ran out to Mickey D’s for cheap eats.

Chicken Sandwich

The Mouse knows, kinda boring, that’s why there’s always this in the refridge.

For a little “bam”. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Weekday one pot cooking for The Mouse.

The Mouse’s Bowl

Okra, celery, black-eyed beans, garlic, chicken sausage, margarine, salt and pepper to taste, and a splash of whiskey. Easy clean-up. Nom.

Leftover Shrimp Salad

The salad dressing got to soak into the vegetables (this time in a good way). Sometimes, the salads The Cat brings home gets over saturated.

It is almost the weekend, can’t wait, too many “fires” at work.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Saturday morning, lotsa running around.

Doctor appointment,

Walmart (The Cat’s instant noodles), tax season almost over.

Some Chinatown produce shopping,

Some bank stuff (long story.

Random pics.

Panda Buns

Filled with black sesame paste, picked them up at a stall while shopping for produce.

Fish Sandwich and Fries

Fast food.

Not one of The Mouse’s proudest moments, but got hungry running errands.

Okra Pickles

Last of the jar, from Picnics from the Vine, The Mouse’s favorite artisanal preserve maker. Pickles helped to cut the heaviness of the sandwich and fries.

Beef Broccoli

Dinner, from the neighborhood chop suey. The Mouse can only eat while The Cat is not around. Number 1, has beef, number 2, she doesn’t think beef broccoli is “Chinese” food. Oh well, The Mouse liked. 🙂

Taro Duck

Mostly for The Cat’s bento, plus, The Mouse was in the mood. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
