The Cat came home with a package of fresh okra. The Cat is not so fond of okra, but The Mouse is. Although, The Mouse is more used to working with the frozen variety.

Decided to combine the okra with a week end semi clean out of the refridge.

In the Sink

Okra, celery, tomato.

Sliced all somewhat thin (the okra seeds kept falling out). Into a pan with a bit of smoked pork (also thinly sliced), and water (the okra started to stick to the pot).

Okra Ragoût with Celery, Tomato, Smoked Pork

Not really ragoût, kinda a hybrid sauté, braise, ragoût method. Worked for The Mouse. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Nothing much happening food-wise with The Mouse. Campus still closing its accounting books. Kinda chained to the desk right now. 😦

Canned or frozen vegetables and Vegemite toast is The Mouse’s working diet for now.

The Cat has a little more “eats” to show.

Soup & Sandwich

House roasted turkey and Swiss cheese on whole wheat bread, served with cranberry ginger chutney. Split pea soup.

Honolulu Museum of Art Café + Coffee Bar. Funny, The Cat became a member of the museum mostly to get a discount on the food. Hee hee.

And no, The Mouse has not eaten at the museum yet. Hint hint.

Mouse made (read assembled) bento for The Cat.

Trader Joe’s rice blend, soy beans, corn, Okinawan sweet potato, purple turnip (Prince would be proud), grilled chicken, roast duck, eggplant parmesan. Mostly leftovers from all over. 🙂

Okay, back to the chain gang for The Mouse. Sigh.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Jus’ pics.

Pig Foot Soup Update

Season being summer, The Mouse didn’t want to make a “heavy” soup/broth. Used only half of the pork foot (froze the other half). Didn’t think the broth would jell. But it did! Yay!

Sorry picture not too appetizing, in real life, exciting. Hee.

Consistency is not “glue your lips together” sticky, just a light sticky. Hee hee.

Remember this bottle?

Bluegrass Soy Sauce

From the food enthusiast co-worker. Finally found something to try it on.

The soy sauce (shoyu in SPAM Land) has a softer taste, not as much fermented/umami taste, different but good. At least on The Mouse’s tongue. Mahalo Keawe!

Pahole (Warabi) and Tomato Salad

Tossed with just Kaua‘i salt.

That’s it for now. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Last week, on the way to work, The Mouse drove through Burger King thinking it was a Jack in the Box. Sigh.

Probably needed an extra strong shot of coffee that morning. The person at the other end of the microphone must’ve been confused too when The Mouse tried to order something not on their menu. Anywho, since I was there. Ordered a breakfast croissant.

Anywho, since I was there. Ordered a breakfast croissant.

Breakfast Croissant

Lucky BK breakfast sandwiches are number two on The Mouse’s list of decent chain breakfasts.

One sandwich, over four bucks! Changed order to two sandwiches for five bucks. Had the other one for lunch. Being pake. Hee hee.

Two days later, The Mouse corrected his confusion.

Breakfast Sandwich w/ Shiso Leaf

Maybe The Mouse needs to start taking ginko biloba or something. Old age. Sigh.

Resizing yesterday lunch pictures in process. Post soon.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Operating system (not The Mouse’s computer) update prevented normal operations. Dumb Microsoft. Ick!

Finally able to download pictures. Update took forever (more like over an hour). Returning to normal programming as soon as The Mouse can resize and crop the pictures. Probably tomorrow.

Good night.
