Vegetarian Bento

Not much happened yesterday food-wise. A few things happened non-food-wise. Tell you about it later. Let’s just say The Mouse will soon be transitioning jobs … again.

Picked up a bento on the way home.

A little quick soup for The Cat, The Mouse and The Cat shared the bento. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Go to farmers market, lunch at Ruby Tuesday, more than half the time.

The Mouse’s Salad

The Mouse is slowly getting into banana peppers. Palate is slowly venturing into the spicy.

The Cat’s Blackened Fish Plate

In the Manago Hotel plating tradition. Hee hee.

Mudd Pie

The reason why we end up at Ruby Tuesday most Sundays.

Berries and Champagne Preserves

Lates acquisition from Picnic from the Vine. Love the vendor’s creativity.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Yesterday was the first day The Cat could sleep in (need to recover from a brutal tax season). Impromptu “hunt” for food. First choice was a 2 hour wait. Nope.

The Cat has always wanted to return to Baci Bistro. Took a chance. One hour wait, unless we were willing to sit at the bar. Go for it.

Sat right in front of the cold prep station (think sitting at the sushi bar).

Bar, Cold Prep, Kitchen

Super tiny space. One of the chef was even gracious to provide shaka. Hee hee.

The Mouse thinks one of the better ones he has had in a while.

The Cat’s Risotto con Gamberetti e Piselli

Think Italian jook with shrimp and peas and cream and cheese. The Cat liked.

The Mouse’s Bucatini alla Puttanesca

With extra sauce (The Mouse is a product of public education). Hee hee.

Rustic, earthy, spicy, packed with umami (think Italian Ma Po Tofu, kinda). And the myth behind the recipe is interesting as well.

Yelp had a picture of Key Lime Pie. Wasn’t a dessert selection last night. The Cat sighs.

Chocolate Decadence Cake

The dense part they got right, tasted flourless to The Mouse.

Next time we go back, either make reservations, go earlier, or sit at the bar again. The Mouse wouldn’t mind sitting at the bar again, free kitchen and prep show. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Unexpected late night for The Cat. The Mouse was prepping The Cat’s egg drop soup. Since The Cat ate at the office, The Mouse had to use the eggs in another way.

Scrambled Eggs

Simple, salt and pepper, and a splash of honey whiskey.

Veggie “Deli Slices”

Square bread, butter, veggie deli slice, scrambled eggs.

The Mouse’s Din Din

Okay, so not really an egg benedict, but the components (except for the Hollandaise sauce) were kinda there? Whatever the case, The Mouse ate. 🙂

Too bad Chef H’s chili was pau. Would’ve made a great topper to the mess. Hee hee.

The leftover eggs are for The Cat’s lunch today, she’s sleeping in (tax season recovery).

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Cat can eat at home now (a break from crazy tax season). The Mouse cleaned out the pantry for The Cat’s soupy bowl.

The Cat’s Soupy Bowl

Pork broth, with pork belly, bamboo shoot, mushroom, white stem cabbage, dried ramen noodle, sea salt, egg drop at the last minute. Slurp!

The Cat picked up a hot dog from Costco for The Mouse. Warmed up the last of Chef H’s chili.

The Mouse’s Nom

Chili dog with fried pork skin (better than chips, maybe even better than fries). Big nom. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
