The Mouse’s schedule was all messed up today. Without going into details, The Mouse’s planned exploration into a new sushi bar was dashed for lunch. The Mouse then had second thoughts about ordering take-out fried chicken … because … “fried”.
Ended up here.
Notice the sign on the right? Coming soon? Hee hee (happy dance). The bbq joint is kinda a little bit of bbq, a little bit of local hole-in-the-wall, a little bit of comfort food. Original location is not too accessible Kalihi area. Soon, almost in our backyard. Well not that close, but close enough.
Lunch at the Vietnamese place next door.
Kind of Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Not in volume, but timing. The restaurant’s homemade fermented black bean and chili paste is pretty awesome.
Slightly hot, but not blow your socks off spicy. I think the guy next to me inhaled almost the whole container (okay, that would be a little much for The Mouse). Kinda like an Asian tapenade? Hmm.
Being that this was The Mouse’s first (and possibly last) meal of the day, added a little sweet at the end.
It was definitely not an unagi rice bowl meal, nor was it take-out fried chicken, kinda in the middle. Going to listen to Carly Simon now. Hope they open soon.
Enjoy. Eat well.
