Kinda scary, “children of the night” begin to come out.
Tried a chicken dish couple of months ago at a banquet at Golden Palace in Chinatown. The Cat was impressed. Went back last night for a revisit.
Some parts of Chinatown is going through a revitalization. Hip and trendy restaurants and bars are opening up attracting the younger crowds. Not at this restaurant and not at the location. But … maybe for the food?
The chicken from the banquet was a special order. Boo! Boss lady offered something similar using free range chicken.
Not sure the cooking nor the seasoning method. Not bad. The Mouse’s pet peeve with Chinese chefs is their fowl carving “modus operandi” – chop and hack (The Cat doesn’t mind, The Mouse on the other hand …). Chicken had good taste, just hard to maneuver around the bones.
The Cat and The Mouse do not live by chicken alone.
Added a “casserole”.
Again, pretty tasty, could’ve cooked a little longer for The Mouse’s taste. Overall, not bad, the gravy was awesome.
And a vegetable.
Tempted to order a noodle dish, but with the gravy and all, plain white rice instead.
Dishes were “on the bone” more us The Cat’s alley.
The Mouse had to satisfy his sweet tooth after dinner.
Would we go back? Probably, but maybe next time wear hazmat suits and assault vests (I’m exaggerating of course). Uhm, maybe.
Enjoy. Eat well.
