Yesterday, we wanted to try here.
Recently opened, good reviews.
The line was too long for The Cat to wait (she was meowing loudly, hee hee).
Ended up here.
Description from their web page:
Cactus is “a celebration of the cuisines of the new Americas with Aloha,” transporting the flavors, culinary traditions and techniques from Central and South America as well as Cuba, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Try try.
The Cat ordered …
Two eggs, thick cut bacon, queso blanco, avocado, Hau‘ula tomato on toasted Tribeca torta roll. Crispy fingerling potatoes.
The Mouse ordered …
Two eggs, basted in Hau‘ula tomato, red chile salsa, warm corn tortilla, charro tomato pinto beans, queso fresco, cilantro crema.
Hmm, probably don’t know most of the words. Tasty though, and a little spicy.
I think The Cat saw avocado in the description and “blanked out” on the rest. Not quite what she wanted. She ate about half of the potato, some of the huevo rancheros (a little too spicy for her). The Mouse finished the rest.
The bacon was really good, thick cut and crispy, sometimes restaurant can’t to thick cut and crispy at the same time without burning the bacon.
Not sure we going back, nothing against the food or restaurant, just not our type. At least try try.
Afterward, we checked out Kalapawai market across the street. In retrospect, we should’ve tried there, based on the menu, more to The Cat’s liking.
Next time.
