Archive for February 14th, 2016

The Cat got this missive from one of her friends today. Maybe from a flower shop? Dunno. In the public interest, we are forwarding this.

Due to the unusual cold weather, roses are not available for Valentine’s Day.

In place of roses, the following vegetables will be substituted.

Persons in single situations will receive Chinese parsley,

Persons in dating situations will receive celery.

Separated – Napa cabbage.

Married – lettuce.

Divorced – pickled cabbage.

Unattached – bean sprouts.

And persons with multiple suitors will be receiving cauliflower.

Thank you for understanding in this unusual situation. We apologize for any inconvenience.

One of The Cat’s friends commented “today’s bouquet, tomorrow’s stir-fry”.

Wait, today’s date is February 14?  Not April 1? Oops, please disregard this post.

Hee hee hee hee

Enjoy. Eat well.

Another Detour

Or down the rabbit hole (or is it up the stairway).

Wanted to try a burger here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/burgers-and-things-honolulu-5. But yesterday, logistics was not cooperating.

Then I thought to get a burger here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/teddys-bigger-burgers-honolulu-4. But then, I may do there tomorrow (schedule will be a little out of whack with the holiday and all).

Ended up here.

Been curious about this place for a couple of months, sooo …

Up the stairway … (with Hitchcock soundtrack playing in my mind) …

Kinda a “hole in the wall”, although a nice and bright “hole in the wall”.

Table view

Table view

No canal view with gondolas gliding  by, no pastoral vineyard view, parking lot, and elevated freeway. Sigh. 🙂

Ordered the sausage and meatball pasta.

Gargantuan!

Gargantuan!

And with enough sauce! Some dishes at other places don’t give enough sauce (IMHO), sorry, this local mouse needs lots of sauce.

The sauce was pretty good, chunky and tangy.

The sausage and meatballs were okay. Texture and taste made me suspect Costco (dunno, just a hunch, a disturbance in the force).

Also ordered garlic bread and used it to sop up all the sauce.

Overall, a good experience, maybe one paw up.

Would I go back? Yup, maybe not for the sausage though, their salads looked interesting.

Supposedly all made in house.

Plus I’m always up for a good puttanesca dish (how appropriate on Valentine’s day, heh heh).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Enjoy. Eat well.
