Actually the eve, a pretty interesting day.
Started with “leftover” crunchy stuff.
An ice cream waffle bowl, granola, and a banana (remnants of office snacks and parties).
Got a text from the new boss “office is closed, but if you want to go in …” Hmm, okay, just to get a little more oriented, went in half a day. Leftover bran muffin (think a hobbits’ “second breakfast”) they forgot to put away (it would have been stale by Monday, at least that’s my theory). Hee hee.
A shop I’ve been wanted to explore for the longest time but never had the opportunity.
Since the new office is nearby … one of the “perks” of the new job. Picked up a jar of mango pickle (for The Cat), and black salt.
The instructions on the mango pickle is to eat with hot rice. Easy.
Found out later the black salt may be “smelly” (naturally contains sulphur). One suggestion is to use it on tofu. Stay tuned.
Headed to AJ’s Chinese Fast Food for lunch and a tray of noodles (dinner at the relatives, “potluck).
The time between lunch and rendezvous with The Cat to head to the relative was a bit of a wait. The kitchen kept bringing out “snacks” to keep me occupied.
It’s good to make a connection with restaurant staff and chefs, perks abound. Although The Mouse felt like small-kid time after-school time waiting at a relative’s food business (I’m Chinese, it happens).
Always good to catch up with relatives. Those reality TV shows? Especially the one with the domineering matriarch? You know the one. Got nuthin’ on our family. They’re tame and boring compared to the “adventures” in our family.
Salmon, two ways, chicken, poké, fried noodles, the works. Typical local style with a little bit of european and asian flair thrown in. Only in SPAM country. 🙂
And then dessert.
Made with filo dough. Awesome.
How was your celebrations? If yesterday was any indication of things to come? It’s going to be a wild ride. 🙂 Happiness, Health, and Peace in 2016!
Enjoy. Eat well.
