Plan B

Originally planned to take a package of natto (with Sunday’s leftovers) for lunch Monday.

On second thought, eating natto in an “open” cubicle probably not the best.

Leftovers with eggplant and ground pork instead (cooked by The Cat).

The Cat did a good job on the eggplant. 🙂

Tuesday became natto day (separate office, much less traffic).

Worth the wait.

As an added bonus the preschool director didn’t bother me during lunch (he’s the one that can’t stand strong aromas, bonito flakes for example).

Enjoy. Eat well.

Ma Po Tofu Chop Suey

The plan was ma po tofu.

After de-cluttering the refrig (I’ve said it before, we need a walk-in frig and freezer, industrial sized), the result was this.

Besides the tofu, ground pork, and ma po sauce packet, I added wood ear fungus, rehydrated shiitake, ginger, green onions, and carrots. Jus’ because.

Turned out okay. The Cat liked it. The Mouse too.

Really want to learn the authentic ma po sauce from scratch tho’. Have to find an old grandma from the province. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Wasn’t planned this way, but yesterday’s meals were all sides.

Plan was Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner.

It started with breakfast.

Green Beans, Mushroom, and Onions

Green Beans, Mushroom, and Onions

With lots of garlic. From Diamond Head Market and Grill (clearance shelf). Usually, the green beans on the clearance shelf are a little bit oxidized, but these were still very appetizingly (is that a word?) green. A good start.

Lunch was three sides.

South Shore Slaw, Tuna Mac Salad, Brown Rice

South Shore Slaw, Tuna Mac Salad, Brown Rice

From South Shore Grill. Unusually large portions today. Took the rice home for today’s lunch. Everything for less than three bucks! Score!

Dinner was purposely ordered three sides with all-you-can-eat salad bar.

Three Sides

Spaghetti squash, steamed broccoli, and grilled zucchini. These went to the Mousie bag for today’s lunch.

Dined on the salad bar.

Two meals for one. How’s that for being “pake”?

Enjoy. Eat well.

More like rearranging. I think we need a walk-in freezer (refrigerator too).

Threw together some odds and ends for last night’s “stew”.

Dried bean curd, dried seaweed, dried mushroom, dried wood ear fungus, dried shrimp, fresh Napa cabbage, and a stalk of celery. Salt and shoyu to taste.

Ta Dah!

Ta Dah!

Not really “monk’s food” (jai), but sorta kinda. Healthy-ish.

Cooked enough for The Cat’s lunch today.

Enjoy? Eat well.

Winter Melon Soup

Kind of cooking on the fly again. Would’ve taken too long for traditional Chinese winter melon soup (chicken stock, diced ham, water chestnuts, etc.) all that dicing.

Used whatever we had on hand.

Winter Melon Soup - Mouse Style

Dried shrimp, dried mushroom, dried seaweed, goji berries, diced winter melon. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Salt to taste.

The Cat yummed.

Enjoy. Eat well.
