Soup ‘n Salad

Back at Happy Valley Pasta & Pizza (across the street from the church). Intrigued about their carrot and onion salad. Since I was there (take-out), thought I might as well try the minestrone soup too.

Happy Valley Pasta $ Pizza Minestrone Soup

Happy Valley Pasta $ Pizza Minestrone Soup

Tomato based soup with Bacon, Carrots, Onions, Celery, and Cabbage. It was ok, more like what The Cat calls “Russian soup”. The bacon was a nice touch (although there could have been more), two important ingredients were missing (in my opinion), pasta and beans. Probably not a repeat.

The restaurant redeemed itself with this.

Carrot & Onion Salad

Carrot & Onion Salad

Julienned Carrots and Sliced Onion marinated in our Homemade Sauce. Omgomgomg! This is awesome! Fresh pickles! I know, a contradiction, but that’s my description. The salad would be great with braised pork belly, local manapua (char siu or lup cheong), a kobe steak, you get the idea. Socks off, most definitely order again. And with capers too!

Except next time, I think order to take home and pair it with any (or all) of the above rich meats. Major drool!

Funny, the restaurant marked their soup as recommended and the salad wasn’t marked. Oh well, to each their own.

Braised pork belly, manapua, kobe steak, carrot and onion salad … and fried rice, that would be a meal. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
