Last day of the long weekend. This time The Mouse participated.

Breakfast.

Local Joint

Local Joint

First time for The Cat. The Mouse has been coming here for years (mostly when The Cat works late).

The Cat's French Toast

The Cat’s French Toast

Not gourmet, but better than some places that charge three to four times as much.

The Mouse's Breakfast

The Mouse’s Breakfast

Chinese sausage omelet over fried rice.

Then a trip to the outlet mall. Almost everything was on sale. Scored a few items, The Cat more than The Mouse.

Lunch.

Legacy

When they were closer to town, we used to frequent them (in the bowling alley). The bowling alley is gone (replaced by a chain pharmacy). (Joni Mitchell is playing in the background.) They moved to the Waimalu area, and it was harder to get to. But since we were in the area, sorta, a good opportunity. 🙂

One of their “condiments” is freshly grated ginger.

The Pot

The Pot

To compliment the soup. Me, I put it on almost everything (with a drop of soy sauce … mmm).

Now, after all that, we didn’t order their famous soup (kinda).

The Cat's Shrimp Stir-Fry

The Mouse kinda had their oxtail soup.

A Cup of Oxtail Broth

Had to. 🙂

The Mouse's Chop Steak

The Mouse’s Chop Steak

Kinda like beef chop suey, just not in a Chinese chop suey house. Fresh ginger on rice with dash of shoyu, mmm.

The Cat equates the stir-fry sauce to XO sauce. Probably not so high-end, but it is tasty.

The two meals together? Four dishes? Including tax and tip? Less than 35 bucks! Cheap eats!

That ends the short “staycation”. Back to work tomorrow. Sigh.

Oh yeah, remind me to write about my father and oxtail soup. Soon.

Enjoy. Eat well.
