Not the number one (as in most favorite), just the first sandwich this week. Kinda like Bond villain number one (sorry, mind wander for a bit).
So, been thinking ’bout liverwurst sandwich this week. Was one of dad’s favorites. The refrigerated tubes (I think it’s Farmer John brand) were okay, but he liked the canned Underwood brand best.
Could not find it at two supermarkets. Must not be in demand here (dunno why).
Settled for this.
Substitute
Multi-grained bread, toasted.
The Toast
A squidge of yellow mustard. The spread. And rum braised/caramelized onions.
The Sandwich
Given any other day, the sandwich would be awesome. Canned, processed meat product (remember now, I love SPAM), onions, cooked down to its essence, with a hint (maybe a little more than just a hint) of rum to counterbalance the saltiness of the spread. Can’t get much better.
Except, it’s not liver.
