At last, T.G.I.F. couldn’t come soon enough.
Actually, food-wise, today was a good day.
Breakfast.
Came in a discount pack from the bakery in the mall (last night, while waiting for The Cat).
Mystery pastry (a couple of minutes in the toaster) + free office coffee = a good start to the day. I think it was a variation of French bread French toast with butter and bacon. Mmmmmm.
Mid-morning snack.
Gotta love the grease stains and stamped brand (nuthin’ fancy).
The bakery’s specialty. Not banana cream, just banana.
Co-worker brought in the pie because, according to him, tomorrow is “pi” day, get it? 3.14. Hee hee.
Since it’s Friday, some kind of Hawaiian themed lunch.
From the lunch house. One of the better ones in a long while. Told the owner/cook so. She’s proud that she adds a little bit of pork fat in the laulau (the old school way). Lately, other suppliers have been leaving out the fat thinking people want a healthier alternative — tooooooo tough and dry. I think we bonded a little, she gave me a sample of kalua pork (see bottom of picture). Cleaned my plate. 🙂
Since lunch was “heavy”, dinner was light (for The Mouse).
Raisin bran, sliced banana, prunes (big raisins?), and a sprinkle of turbinado sugar, topped with unsweetened almond milk (hence the sprinkle of sugar).
The Cat got a bowl of fish tale soup/stew.
Salmon tail, mung beans, quinoa, egg noodles, bamboo rice, napa cabbage, lemon slices, and a tablespoon of rum (happy soup).
T.G.I.F. indeed.
Oh and happy pi day tomorrow! Eat pie!
Enjoy. Eat well.
