Picked up two musubi (rice) today.
(The banana came from the church kitchen, added just for color). 🙂
Not sure if it’s done everywhere, but over here, some vendors will place a “don” on the top of the musubi to indicate what’s inside (these were supposed to have ume (Japanese pickled plum).
But … inside the first one was …
What the? !!!
Either, cook fell asleep and put in  the wrong filling or cook ran out of ume. In any case, Mouse sad. 😦
Don’t get me wrong, I like the seasoned seaweed, on hot rice, with an egg on top. But in musubi, it’s not high on my priority list.
Took the second one home thinking it also had seasoned seaweed.
Opened a tin of tuna to accompany the musubi.
The capers with tuna would provide the complimenting taste to the saltiness of the seaweed and soy sauce combo.
But alas, foiled again.
If I knew this one was accurate, I would have opened a can of SPAM instead of tuna. The taste of the capers clashed with the pickled plums … too picklely. Sigh.
Oh well …
Enjoy. Eat well.
