Just me, playing in the kitchen.
Found this in the pantry. I didn’t buy it, long story how it got there, probably a whole different type of blog, let’s not go there. 😉
Thought it was more “grain-y”, tried to steam it.
Sort of a fail. The pearls kinda stuck together, in a mochi kinda way. Still edible, just a little weird, “sticky” sort of was. Should’ve read the instructions first. Hee hee.
The rest of the package went to the back of the pantry.
That was yesterday.
Today, The Cat was attending a seminar, no lunch provided, no access to microwave. Made her a sandwich with leftover “scrambled” eggs (Chinese style).
I chopped a little too much kale to fit in the sandwich. In trying to figure out what to do with the excess the couscous came to mind.
Chopped a little more kale, split grape tomatoes, chopped chives, and halved Brussels sprouts.
Also threw in a little bit of chopped galangal. First time trying it, used it instead of (not in place of) ginger. I liked it, must experiment more.
“Followed” the directions on the package this time, more like a risotto preparation.
Much better. The pearl couscous still not my favorite ingredient, I think I prefer quinoa or risotto. Good to try though. Hope more packages don’t “appear” in the pantry. Hee hee.
Enjoy. Eat well.
