Found an excellent specimen at the market.
Takes some planning and preparation, especially if adding dried bamboo shoots.
Took me four days of soaking, rinsing, and boiling to get the dried bamboo shoots to get the texture halfway decent.
Carrot, dried Shiitake, ginger, green onion, star anise, salt, sugar, water to cover, light and dark soy sauce, (the dried bamboo shoots were added halfway through the cooking. Simmered for 5 hours.
Oh yeah, a Chinese teacup full of Shao Xing cooking wine and whiskey.
Picked up at Walmart, half the price of Jack Daniels.
She eats more bamboo shoots. The Mouse had thin slices in a toasted ciabatta roll, porchetta style, with Sriracha mayo.
Not really Chinese style or Japanese style, more of a mash-up … The Mouse style. 🙂
The Cat approved of the pork.
Enjoy. Eat well.
