Last Christmas seasonal work at Williams-Sonoma, a guy walks in looking to get a knife for his brother. The guy has a number of tattoos, piercings, and body modifications (on the surface, kinda scary looking, at least to me).
After showing him several knives he decides to buy three, one for his brother (his original intent), one for his mother, and one for himself (must be my used car salesman personality, hee hee).
Turns out, he is the owner/chef of Downbeat Diner and Lounge, suggest I should check it out one day.
Today was the day.
I could identify Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, Mark Twain, Dee Dee Ramone?, and Bill Murray. Pretty interesting upholstery.
Ordered a basic burger to test it out.
Big Island beef burger, lettuce, tomato, onions, house sauce, and a side of garlic fries (ala carte). Burger done well, probably no filler. Garlic fries a little to garlicky, still not bad.
Ended with a dark chocolate brownie.
One of the better brownies eaten lately.
Salted chocolate chip cookie to go.
Not normally a chocolate chip cookie person/monster (oatmeal is my poison of choice), but would order this one again.
There are several dishes I want to go back and try. Definitely.
Enjoy. Eat well.

I see Joe Strummer and Frida Kahlo! And those desserts look great!
Thanks!
Think the woman near the top might be Frida Kahlo?
Thanks!
