The Cat was a busy cat last week. Besides the fail (see previous post), there was a massive win. The Cat had dinner at Hoku’s (5000 Kahala Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii).

Executive Chef W created a menu just for The Cat’s table.

Chef’s creation. One oyster, siting on a bed of ocean salad, topped with a mignonette (The Cat doesn’t know what was in the mignonette, she thought there might be some tobiko in it). The Cat liked.

Lemongrass and vanilla macerated grapes, port sauce, and tarragon. The Cat liked again.

The Cat doesn’t know what type of fish (could be talapia, just kidding). Pan fried for a crispy crust, served with crab meat. The Cat liked again.

Creme friache wasabi, garlic kale, black truffle fondue. Being redundant here but The Cat liked (which is highly unusual, The Cat normally doesn’t care for beef).

At the end, there was a dessert sampler (no picture).

The Mouse got these.

Per the recommendation of the chef, I did not warm up the steak (it would be overcooked), but sliced it thin like sashimi.
