It’s not a typo.

We had some ice cream bananas. The Cat did not care for this batch, too “starchy”, wanted to throw them out. Maybe they was too green when they were harvested.

I went on the internet for inspiration to see  if I could salvage them. Found this and this. Banana “ice cream” it is. Peeled them and cut them into “coins” and threw them in the freezer.

Frozen Bananas

Frozen Bananas

To the bananas, added a splash of rice milk, used my immersion blender to blend/smash bananas and rice milk (we don’t have a blender nor a food processor). Took a while to break down the bananas.

Then, I just had to …

Added a splash of Japanese plum wine, a teaspoon of peanut butter, a drop of orange extract, a teaspoon of honey, and a teaspoon of agave syrup (I didn’t vanilla extract otherwise that would have gone in too).

At this point, the mixture was the consistency of melting soft serve, so I poured into bowls and threw it back into the freezer.

The result was ok. The taste was good but to me the mouth feel wasn’t “creamy” (maybe luscious) enough to replace ice cream. Plus, the immersion blender was not the right tool to breakdown the frozen bananas.

If I try this again (and I might), I’ll use (or borrow) a food processor or powerful blender. Still it was good to try a new taste and technique.

Enjoy. Eat well.
