I used to think that I would eat well working in professional kitchens and even in a store that specializes in kitchenware. Far from it. Although I tasted the chefs creations in the French kitchen, I did not eat well (at least by my definition). Too busy. I choose not to eat well at the vegan/raw restaurant. Not that interested. So far, I don’t eat well working at W-S. Again, too busy, and breaks are too short. I’m lucky if I scarf a granola bar during break (it is Christmas after all).
I’m not complaining, just stating the fact.
Today, my shift was 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with a half hour break. Wolfed down a granola bar, and water. By 4:00, I was kind of starving. One restaurant that I was thinking of trying was closed until 5:30. Not good.
Ended up at the Neiman-Marcus Espresso Bar. The Cat used to frequent this place for lunch until she found reasonably priced Chinese restaurants nearby. I’ve been here a couple of times and always ate the sampler plate.
Cup of soup, half of a chicken salad or tuna salad sandwich, fresh fruit. One of the few things I can afford at N-M (just barely, and rarely). Usually, whether I sit down or leave depends on the soup of the day. Today it was tomato bacon. BACON! pulled a lot of weight on my decision. I always get the half tuna pecan sandwich (white albacore tuna, water chestnuts, toasted pecans, vine-ripened tomato, deli-rye, toasted).
The soup was great! tomatoey, and bacony, nice combination during winter time. Soup, salad, sandwich, and fruit. Truly a sampler plate.
Enjoy. Eat well.
