What was the question? Just kidding.
Growing up, the sandwiches I ate the most were peanut butter, tuna salad, and chicken salad. I won’t go into the details here, saving that story for the director’s cut. 🙂
One of the menu items at the restaurant is a “not tuna” salad packed as either a salad or a sandwich. The basis of Chef’s “not tuna” is sunflower seeds. While it’s a decent substitute, it’s “not tuna”.
The other day, after working at the kitchen, I had to rush over to The Cat’s office for a meeting. Picked up an “Off The Hook” tuna panini sandwich from The Stage Cafe (1250 Kapiolani Boulevard, Honolulu, Hawaii). Just across the street from The Cat’s office.
Fresh Island Tuna Salad (slightly smoked), Hamakua Springs Tomato, and Jalapeno Slices (I requested they omit the Swiss cheese). OMGOMGOMG! One of the best tuna sandwiches I’ve had…ever! The hint of smoke with the jalapeno peppers worked well together. Both socks came off (I still can’t find them). Hee hee.
I also picked up a Lilikoi lemon tart.
Also very good. Not overly tart, and the lilikoi brought a slightly local twist.
Definitely will be returning.
Enjoy. Eat well.

Both socks off is one heck of an endorsement 🙂
Heh heh. I was impressed. Thanks!
Wow, that tuna sandwich sounds amazing! I currently am in love with Trader Joe’s yellowfin tuna, but I don’t think you’ve got Trader’s out there. And I’ve never had a vegan “tuna” that tastes as good as tuna!
Real tuna, real pork belly. That’s the way to go! I understand if people have dietary issues, but if not? Go real! Heh heh. Yeah, we are behind the times when it comes to some shopping options. We are a foreign country after all. Hee hee.
😉 And I have some beautiful pork belly in my freezer. Any suggestions? They would be gratefully received. I don’t know anyone with more fondness for it than you!
There’s always roasted, suckling pig style, slowly braised with dark soy sauce, ginger, and honey, or homemade bacon! Drool! Hee hee.
Yum, yum and YUM. Thank you! 🙂
No, Thank you!
Mmm…that tart looked good. I’d be interested in trying sun flower seed “not tuna” but if given a choice it would be real tuna, or salmon please 🙂
I know. Real is better (to me anyway). Thanks!
For you to say OMGOMGOMG and lose your socks means this must have been quite a sandwich! 😀 One day I’ll be coming over to Hawaii for the food. (oh and the sun and the sea and the sand). I am trying hard not to feel the urge to pinch you while I sit here looking at the gray, cold, rainy day outside my window!!! Sharon
One of the best tuna sandwiches. Thanks! Hope you make it over here.
