As mentioned in the previous post, I wanted to pick up some knife edge guards so I could bring some knives from home to the restaurant. I could have gone to a couple of the malls to either the national kitchen supply store (their initials are W-S) or a locally owned store. Thought I’d try finding a store that supplies to the industry (just because). Located one. Bargreen-Ellingson (98 Kamehameha Highway 107a Aiea, Hawaii). Kind of hard to find, it’s behind a furniture store.

As you can see, it’s not in a mall. Nothing fancy, industrial. But, oh my, this place blows the mall stores away.

Interior

Racks and racks of kitchen and food service stuff. Staff is friendly. They don’t care if you are there to buy one item or to outfit a whole restaurant. They have everything from spoons to furniture to equipment. “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more.”

Pizza Peels

These things are almost as big as my whole kitchen. OMG! There’s also stirring paddles that look like canoe paddles.

The store also stocked immersion blenders so huge, they probably could easily propel aircraft carriers (I’m exaggerating of course, but not by much). 😉

And then I saw it.

Immersion Blender

Sleek, powerful, puts the home versions to shame. No bells and whistles, off, low, high. That’s it. With this, I could easily take on Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and Darth Sidious all at once. Bring it!

So uhm Santa, if your reading, I know it’s kind of early … Hee hee!

Oh, and I did find the knife covers, I think at half the cost of the mall stores. I walked out with only the knife covers, and only the knife covers, it took a lot of restraint.

Does this mean I won’t step into the mall stores again? Don’t get me wrong, I still love walking into W-S. But going to Bargreen-Ellingson  is a whole different experience. I compare it to going to a truck broker and a dealer that sells sports cars. Both are fun.  But I’ll look at Bargreen-Ellingson first to see if I can get a better deal (after all, I have some pake blood flowing through me). 🙂

Enjoy.
