Cat Food

The title is The Cat’s idea.

This past weekend was the first weekend The Cat didn’t have to deal with taxes (she has other client issues she’s still contending with, but that’s a whole other can of worms). Anyway, The Cat wanted a little treat for dinner, to celebrate surviving.

We heard from a friend that Kenko-Ya (45-046 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii) does a pretty good miso butterfish, and it’s in the neighborhood.

Sign

Love that their sign has a pig and butterfly logo. Cute ya?  Dunno why though, our server couldn’t come up with an explanation.

The Cat usually can’t decide on what to order, but on this night, after looking at the menu in the window, she knew what she wanted.

Soft Shelled Crab and Miso Butterfish Teishoku

The Cat declared one of the better miso butterfish preparations in a while. The soft-shelled crab was nice and meaty (chubby) too. The Cat gave it four paws and a tail.

I went with an order of chirashizushi (“scattered sushi”), sushi rice topped with sashimi and garnishes. One of my favorite “celebration” dishes.

Ahi (tuna), salmon, hamachi, ika (squid), tako (octopus), tamago (Japanese egg omelet), and a bit of ikura (salmon roe). Big yum!

As with most Japanese meals, tea,, miso soup, a little appetizer, and vegetables comes with the order.

Tea, Miso Soup, Edamame, and Vegetables

The Cat signed off on the requisition to revisit. Yay!

Enjoy. Eat well.
