Korean Market Finds

Just a preview. We went to whats amounting to our regular Sunday spot for lunch again (it’s almost becoming a ritual). Since we had free street parking, and The Cat needed a break from taxes, we decided to walk around the area after lunch.

There’s a Korean market, Keeaumoku Supermarket (835 Keeaumoku Street, Honolulu, Hawaii) almost hidden in the back of a cluster of low-rise buildings. We didn’t even know a market existed there. Of course you know we had to check it out.

Picked-up a few items.

Spicy Tofu

A block of tofu, marinated in spices and onions. I tasted a slight fermented taste, not as extreme as stink tofu. I nicknamed this “angry tofu”.

Sesame Leaves

Had to ask one of the shoppers what to do with this. The leaves can me eaten raw, used as a wrap for rice and meat, stir-fried, or parboiled. Stay tuned to see what I do with this.

Wild Sweet Rice

Again, stay tuned as we use this rice.

For lunch, the restaurant did not have pork tongue again (boo!), and no, we did not try to order pork intestines, one trauma was enough.

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

Enjoy. Eat well.
