Jook or Risotto?

My cousin, B, says I cook weird. I prefer “creative” or even “playful”.

Anyway, I was thinking about risotto except that I was not willing to stand at the stove stir a pot of rice for twenty or so minutes. I made jook with the water from rehydrating dried shiitake mushrooms (no stirring), and topped it with wood ear fungus sautéed in the oil from Chinese chili bamboo shoots.

I saved the re-hydrated mushrooms for something else (to be determined later).

Weird? Pfff!
