Guilty Pleasure

I haven’t eaten these in decades.

They used to be one of my favorite lunch treats (this was before nutrition information was required on packages). I liked Ding Dongs, cupcakes, Sno Balls, and Ho Hos too, but Twinkies were the best.

Anyway, the other day I was channel surfing and came across a movie about zombies. One of the characters kept searching for Twinkies (I don’t even know the name of the movie). I suddenly got the urge to get a package. I don’t remember them being over two dollars a package. Good thing we have a thrift bakery nearby and I was able to pick up an outdated package for just over one dollar (that’s okay, Twinkies are supposed to have a shelf life of several centuries don’t they?).

I threw the package in the freezer and had it for dessert last night (can’t remember how I learned to like them frozen).

Even after my palate has become more “sophisticated,” once in a couple of decades, Twinkies still taste good. 🙂
