Frozen Doufu

Most times, we can’t finish a whole block of doufu at once. We’ll cover the unused portion with fresh water and throw the whole thing into the freezer, it’s easier than changing the water everyday. When The Cat was growing up in Shanghai, the family didn’t have a refrigerator. During the winter, they would leave unused doufu outside to freeze.

Here’s a description of frozen doufu and what to do with it.

This is what the doufu looks like after it’s defrosted and drained.

Kind of reminds me of flattened sponges that opened up when exposed to water. This time, I braised it with some vegetables (forgot to take a picture, bad Mouse).
