Uhm, not quite, but very good in its own right.
Our friends (Y, E, V, T) sent us a jar of black sesame jam (sorry, we weren’t able to get to it until now).
More of a paste than a jam, that’s okay, just semantics. Basically, it’s ground black sesame seeds with sugar. The color could be a bit off-putting, especially straight from the bottle, but the taste overcomes the looks by far.
Imagine the black sesame filling in mochi balls, same thing, except more of it, and no mochi (probably not making any sense to some readers).
It’s become one of my favorite. Almost up there with Nutella, but not quite (only because Nutella has chocolate in it). There’s a slight smoky taste to the jam (probably from toasting the sesame seeds), and the sweetness. Definitely a Chinese kind of thing.
Thanks Y, E, V, and T. Good choice.
Thanks all who have visited and/or follow this blog. Your encouraging words keeps me going. Happy New Year, looking forward to more eating adventures.
Enjoy. Eat well.

I had completely forgotten how much I love this stuff. Yum.
I do love sesame seeds, and this sounds divine. Not sure where I’ll pick it up here, so I’ll keep my eyes out!
Possibly an Asian market if you have one close by. The labeling indicates its from Taiwan. Happy New Year!
Great blog! I like it Spencer. Since I was introduced to it, it’s running close to my favorite strawberry jelly. 😎I’m glad you like it!
Is it your New Year feast? … Good choice, because it was ours today

Sorry, but nothing is better than Nutella!
Happy New Year to you and your family too.
