The title is The Cat’s idea.
This past weekend was the first weekend The Cat didn’t have to deal with taxes (she has other client issues she’s still contending with, but that’s a whole other can of worms). Anyway, The Cat wanted a little treat for dinner, to celebrate surviving.
We heard from a friend that Kenko-Ya (45-046 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii) does a pretty good miso butterfish, and it’s in the neighborhood.
Love that their sign has a pig and butterfly logo. Cute ya? Dunno why though, our server couldn’t come up with an explanation.
The Cat usually can’t decide on what to order, but on this night, after looking at the menu in the window, she knew what she wanted.
The Cat declared one of the better miso butterfish preparations in a while. The soft-shelled crab was nice and meaty (chubby) too. The Cat gave it four paws and a tail.
I went with an order of chirashizushi (“scattered sushi”), sushi rice topped with sashimi and garnishes. One of my favorite “celebration” dishes.
Ahi (tuna), salmon, hamachi, ika (squid), tako (octopus), tamago (Japanese egg omelet), and a bit of ikura (salmon roe). Big yum!
As with most Japanese meals, tea,, miso soup, a little appetizer, and vegetables comes with the order.
The Cat signed off on the requisition to revisit. Yay!
Enjoy. Eat well.

Those prices sound really good! I think it would be more in Dallas, and it wouldn’t look nearly as good.
I knew I shouldn’t have stopped by here at midnight. Now I’m hungry again!
Sorry. Someone told me my posts should come with warning labels. Heh heh. Eat well.
Mmmm nice and clean food, my favorite lol

You are not alone. I’ve been told I have a warped point of view. I celebrate my warpedness.
Chirashi is a favourite and I’m always inspired by the beautiful Asian delicacies you and cat enjoy! Four paws & a tail, love it!!!
Thanks! It’s how The Cat rates her food. Eat well.
Chirashi looks very ono-licous! Was it cheap?
Thanks! Under twenty dollars. Not cheap cheap, fairly priced.
Wow! That chirashizushi looks amazing! Those pieces of fish are huge!
Thanks! The selection and quality were quite good. Price was pretty reasonable too. Eat well.
