Thought I Was In A Subway

We tried a new buffet this weekend, Five Star International Buffet (Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, Honolulu, Hawaii). The restaurant initially opened for dinner only and recently added lunch.

Prices

We tried lunch. I figured lunch is less risky. If dinner is bad, the price will make us feel worse.

The buffet line set-up is a little weird. Kind of like in the middle of the kitchen.

Felt like I was in a subway station or a subway train. The passageway is a little narrow.

On to the food.

Meat and Veggies

The selections were well done. The meats were tender, the vegetables were cooked through without being overdone.

Chawanmushi

Loco Moco

The loco moco was pretty good. The gravy and hamburger patty were more Japanese style than local style.

Clam Soup

The clam soup was too thin to be chowder. The Cat said it was really tasty though.

The desserts were meh. Not bad, not the greatest.

Over all, worth the price. Although everything was well prepared, all socks stayed firmly on. The “wow” factor was missing. Even though they called themselves an international buffet, the tastes were more oriental/Japanese. Glad we tried.

Happy Hearts Day everyone!

Enjoy.
