Did some cleaning out of the pantry today. A can of black beans and a few strips of bacon. Inspired by my father. Canned pork and beans was one of his favorite.
Slowly heated the bacon until crispy. Added it to slowly simmered black beans (canned). Salt, chili powder, garlic powder, and Chinese hot bean paste. Forgot the tomato sauce or ketchup until it was too late. Wasn’t a big fan of the tomato paste in the canned pork and beans anyway. Maybe next time.
I think my version tasted better.
