I’ve been frequenting our local farmers markets lately (don’t ask). The picture from the previous post was The Cat’s food. This one’s mine.
Okra is one of my favorite vegetables, I don’t mind the goo (remember, I also like natto, and Chinese yam or Japanese mountain yam). One of my favorite okra dishes (besides gumbo) is okra and tomatoes. Last night’s variation, Braised okra and tomatoes: fresh okra (from a farmers market), fire roasted tomatoes (from the can), and blanched sea asparagus (for garnish).
No added salt. I kept the okra whole because I was lazy and didn’t want to deal with the goo (eating goo and dealing with goo are two different things).
Next time, I’ll add fresh garlic and onions.
Enjoy.
